Fiction ~ Will Weaver

Good Stories, Well Told

This workshop will focus on curating new story ideas, revising previously written work, and increasing your overall confidence as a writer using the techniques of fiction. Participants may (1) bring a twenty-page sample for workshopping. Or (2), bring story ideas for help from the group with narrative strategizing. The workshop is open to all ideas and levels of experience, but assumes you have written (though not necessarily published) some fiction for adults or young adults.

Will Weaver grew up in northern Minnesota and attended the Stanford University Writers Workshop. Winner of PEN Fiction awards for his short stories, Weaver’s debut novel, Red Earth, White Earth was produced as a CBS television movie. A Gravestone Made of Wheat & Other Stories won the Minnesota Book Award for Fiction. The New York Times Book Review called it “. . . a graceful collection, one that views America’s heartland with a candid but charitable eye.” The title story was adapted into the award winning indie feature film Sweet Land. Other works include the young adult novels Memory Boy and Saturday Night Dirt. His new novel for adults, Power and Light, releases in 2023.
